GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team extended its win streak to seven games today, as it rolled to a 19-7 win at Gwynedd Mercy University.
The victory improved the Cavaliers to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
The Blue and White got goals from 11 different players, as the team earned its 44th consecutive CSAC win.
Senior
Allie Vallen tallied six points on the day, pairing two goals with a career high four assists. Sophomore
Liz Hoeffner added five points on three goals and two helpers.
Fellow sophomore
Avery Murphy chipped in with four goals. Junior
Sasha Wozniak matched Murphy's four points on a goal and three helpers. Junior
Emily Crouse also marked a career high with three goals.
Senior
Jess Breuning and junior
Sara Johnsen added a goal and an assist each.
The Cavaliers controlled today's action from the opening whistle, as goals by Murphy and Hoeffner gave Cabrini a 2-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game. The Blue and White continued its offensive run, building a 13-0 with 13:36 left in the first half.
Wozniak scooped a team-high three ground balls, while juniors
Jackie Neary and
Gabby Lee joined sophomore Emma Rodner-Timms with two caused turnovers each.
Hoeffner nabbed team high honors with four draw controls, one more than Murphy and two more than Vallen and Crouse.
The Cabrini defense held the Griffins to just 11 shots on the day, while the Cavaliers' trio of goaltenders, senior
Megan Barlow, sophomore
Devon Scharf and freshman
Noelia Ramirez, was only called on for one save on the day.
Samantha Brown led Gwynedd Mercy (1-7, 1-2 CSAC) with three goals and seven draw controls, while Lauren Mitroe added a goal, two helpers and four draw controls.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, when they welcome Immaculata University (6-3, 3-0 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field as part of Cabrini's Division III Week celebration. Game time is slated for 7pm.
