Women's Lacrosse Rides Hot Start to 20-5 Win at Neumann

ASTON, PA – The Cavaliers scored early and often today, as the Cabrini women's lacrosse team stayed perfect in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with today's 20-5 victory at Neumann.

With the win, the Blue and White improved to 11-3 overall and 7-0 in the CSAC. The Cavaliers ended Neumann's five game win streak, as the Knights fell to 5-8 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Sophomore Liz Hoeffner scored the first of her season high five goals just 41 seconds after the opening whistle and the Cavaliers were off and running. The sophomore netted her second goal 30 seconds later and completed her hat trick less than four minutes into the action.

The Blue and White extended its lead to 10-0 with 19:20 left in the first half, as six Cavaliers marked the scoring column.  Neumann briefly interrupted Cabrini's scoring run, before the Cavaliers pushed their lead to 14-1 at the half.

The Blue and White outshot the Knights 39-11 on the day and secured 19 of the game's 26 draw controls.

Hoeffner led Cabrini with a season high seven points. Senior Allie Vallen and sophomore Avery Murphy added five points each, combining for five goals and five assists. Senior Jess Breuning, junior Sasha Wozniak and freshman Lauren Hughes added three goals each.

Sophomore Katie Kucia paired four ground balls and two caused turnovers, while classmate Emma Rodner-Tims scooped three ground balls and caused two miscues.

Senior goaltender Megan Barlow and juniors Jackie Neary and Gabby Lee matched Rodner-Tims and Breuning with three ground balls each.

Neary controlled a season high three draws, two more than Murphy and four more than Breuning.

Barlow was called on for just four saves to secure her 39th career victory.

Kaitlyn Conrad and Shae Risley led Neumann  with two goals each, while Gabby Curry recorded 11 saves in the Knight's cage.
