BALTIMORE, MD – Seven Cavaliers marked the scoring column today, as the Cabrini women's lacrosse team moved to 12-3 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with a 16-4 victory at Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Sophomores
Liz Hoeffner and
Avery Murphy led the Blue and White with four goals each, while Hoeffner joined junior
Sasha Wozniak with two assists. Freshman
Lauren Hughes recorded her second consecutive hat trick, while junior
Emily Crouse netted two goals.
Sophomore
MaryKate Keenan paired two caused turnovers with two ground balls, while senior
Jess Breuning and sophomore
Katie Kucia scooped three ground balls each. Junior
Jackie Neary controlled four of Cabrini's 14 draws.
All three of Cabrini's goaltenders saw action in today's win, combining for five saves and the Cavaliers held the Gators to 12 shots on the day. Senior
Megan Barlow led the way with six stops.
The Blue and White took control of the game in the opening minutes, as it scored early and often.
Murphy found Hughes just eight seconds after the opening whistle for the game's first goal and the Cavaliers were off and running. Murphy recorded her 50th goal of the season 30 seconds later, while Hoeffner's first goal put Cabrini ahead 3-0 93 seconds into the game.
The Blue and White pushed its lead to 10-0 lead than 10 minutes into the game and 15-0 on sophomore
Kerri Anderson's goal with 9:12 left in the first half.
Megan Morales led the Gators (3-7, 3-4 CSAC) with two goals, two ground balls and four draw controls. Deja Martin recorded two saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers will close their CSAC slate on Saturday, as they welcome Centenary University (2-10, 2-6 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field. The opening draw is slated for 12 noon.
