No. 14 Men's Lacrosse Cruises to 22-5 Win at Neumann

ASTON, PA – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team kept its Colonial States Athletic Conference win streak in tact with today's 22-5 victory at Neumann.

The No. 14 Cavaliers' 105th consecutive conference win improved the club to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in league play.

The Blue and White did not take today's opponent lightly, as it looks to face No. 1 Salisbury on Friday.

Cabrini jumped ahead in the game's first minute, as senior Evan Downey hit sophomore Jordan Krug for the first of his three goals just 47 seconds after the opening whistle. The Blue and White took advantage of an early Neumann penalty, as junor Zack Gregory netted a man-up goal 40 seconds later.

Cabrini tallied the game's first seven goals, including three from Krug, before the Knights opened their scoring with 1:18 left in the opening frame.  Sophomore Timmy Brooks' second goal closed the first quarter with Cabrini leading 8-1.

After an early Neumann goal, the Cavaliers reeled off eight consecutive second quarter goals, extending their lead to 17-2 at the half. Freshman Jake Klein posted four of his game high seven points in the period on two goals and two helpers.  Gregory and Brooks also scored two goals each in the period.

The Blue and White recorded just nine shots in the third quarter, etching five marks in the scoring column.  Among the third quarter goals was the first career tally from freshman Chris Stefanowicz.

Klein paired a career high three goals and four assists on the day, while Brooks netted four goals. Gregory and Krug matched Klein with three goals, while freshman Drew Hanna added two goals and two assists.

Freshman Mike Gerzabek posted three points on a goal and two helpers, while Downey and classmate Patrick Regan recorded a goal and an assist each.

The Cavaliers won 20 of the day's 29 faceoffs, with sophomore Trey Critides going 11-14 at the X, while junior Riley Michaels went 9-13 with a team high five ground balls.

Regan and freshman goaltender Matt Nestler joined Michaels with five ground balls, one more than Hanna and two more than senior Colin McGavin and sophomore Riley White.

Freshman Harrison Schadt caused a team high two turnovers, while 10 other Cavaliers caused one Neumann miscue each.

Nestler recorded five saves in 34 minutes between the Blue and White pipes, while White notched six saves in relief.

Chase Fraser and Adam Fagan scored two goals each for the Knights (5-7, 2-2 CSAC), while starting goaltender Brendan Risley posted six saves in 27 plus minutes of action. Antonio Gibson added five saves.

The Cavaliers have little time to enjoy today's win, as defending national champion and No. 1 ranked Salisbury (14-0) will visit Edith Robb Dixon Field on Friday.  The opening faceoff is slated for 6:30pm.
