ASTON, PA - The Cabrini softball team closed its regular season today with a pair of loses to the top seed in this year's Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament, Neumann University. The Cavaliers fell 5-3 in game one and 4-3 in the nightcap, concluding the regular season at 17-21 overall and 15-7 in the CSAC.
Following today's games, the Blue and White have secured the tournament's fourth seed and will host Cedar Crest in a first round game on Wednesday at a time to be determined.
Senior
Amber Dietrich homered in the second inning of game one to put the Cavaliers up 3-0. Senior
Lindsay Savar walked to open the inning, while junior
Alexandria Ramos reached on a double. Dietrich stepped into the batter's box and cleared the bases for her fifth homer on the year.
The Knights answered back in the third inning, with a pair of runs on two hits. Neumann went on to even the score in the fourth, before taking the lead with two runs in the fifth.
The Knights were able to stall the Cavaliers' offense the rest of the way, as the Blue and White failed to record a hit in the sixth and seventh innings.
Ramos led Cabrini from the box, going 2-3 at the plate and adding a run. Sophomore
Marissa Alpaugh, junior
Jess Giordano and Dietrich each recorded a hit in the loss.

Giordano fell to 7-9 in the circle, after tossing four innings and allowing five earned runs. The junior added five strike outs and held the Knights to just five hits.
Game two held up to the excitement from game one, as the Knights narrowly edged the Blue and White in the nightcap.
With two outs in the first, Alpaugh reached base on a single, while Giordano's RBI single down the right field line scored the sophomore.
A two run home run in the bottom of the second inning put the Knights on top 2-1, though Savar would even the score in the top of the third, with an RBI single to center field.
Neumann regained the lead in the fourth, as the club posted two runs on four hits.
Junior
Emily Smull brought the club to within one run in the fifth, as the junior's RBI single plated Alpaugh.
The Blue and White made one last push at evening the score in the seventh, before falling just shy. Dietrich walked to open the inning and made her way to third on an Alpaugh ground out and an infield throwing error, respectively. A strikeout would end the inning, as Dietrich was left stranded.
Alpaugh tallied three hits and three runs scored, while Giordano, Savar and Smull recorded RBIs for Cabrini. Smull and junior
Jenna Rodriguez combined to allow nine hits and three earned runs in the circle.
