Cavs Drop Fourth Straight Game, Lose to Immaculata 6-3

IMMACULATA, PA - The Cavaliers couldn't hold off the surging Mighty Macs in tonight's rescheduled matchup as they fell by a score of 6-3 and dropped their fourth straight game in the process.

Starter Jake Dohar had himself another solid outing as he picked up the quality start (7IP, 6H, 2ER, 2K), despite being strapped with the loss to draw his record even at 2-2. Four Cabrini errors accounted for two unearned runs on Dohar's line as well, giving the Blue and White a conference high 47 errors in 117 innings.

Eight different Cavs recorded one hit, with Alex Del Giudice, Casey Plunkett and Dohar each picking up an RBI. Shaun Stackhouse (1SB) and Tyler Norris (2SB) picked up their 10th and ninth stolen bases, respectively.

Immaculata, winners of 10 consecutive games, pushed across the first four runs starting in the top of the second as they took advantage of a wild pitch and a fielders choice to take the early 2-0 lead.

After a second consecutive 1-2-3 inning from the Cavs, the Mighty Macs tacked on another in the top of the third off of a throwing error from shortstop Michael Mescia

The Blue and White cut their four run deficit in half in the bottom of the sixth as Dylan Butler started things off with a single to left. After a fielders choice from Norris marked the innings second out, the Mighty Macs were poised to get out of it without any damage; the Cavs however, made sure that didn't happen. A single through the left side from Erick Vicario advanced Norris to third and set up Del Giudice with an opportunity to push across their first run. The freshman delivered with another single through the left side to plate Norris and make it a 4-1 ball game. Dohar, the games next batter, helped himself out with a single to center to push across Vicario and pull the Cavs to within two.

Immaculata extended their lead in the top of the eighth, however off of reliever Michael Rodriguez to make it a 6-2 game.

The Cavaliers wouldn't go down easy as they made things interesting in their half of the eighth. A Norris single and a Dohar walk put runners on first and third with two outs for Plunkett who delivered with a pinch hit RBI single up the middle. The rally would end there, unfortunately as Immaculata escaped further damage with a big strikeout of Joe Aurite to end the inning.

Mighty Macs closer Kyle Bacher picked up his fifth save of the season and second in as many days as he nailed down the victory for Immaculata with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth.

After the series sweep, the Cavaliers drop to 7-9 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. The Blue and White will look to turn things around when they travel to Delaware Valley University on Wednesday, April 5 for a 3:30pm showdown with the Aggies (8-6 overall, 2-4 MAC).
