RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini softball team improved to 9-13 and 7-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, after today's 18-3 and 15-5 wins over the Rosemont Ravens.
Rosemont got out to an early 1-0 lead in the first but the Cavaliers responded with four runs in the bottom half.
Cabrini took command of the game in the second inning, as the Blue and White registered 12 runs on 12 hits and two errors. Sophomore
Marissa Alpaugh led the Cavaliers with a pair of hits and five RBI in the frame, including a grand slam home run. Seniors
Lindsay Savar and
Amber Dietrich also homered in the inning, as the duo combined for five RBI.
Junior Jess Giordano extended the Cavaliers' lead to 17-1 in the third, as the junior's RBI single to right field plated classmate Alexandria Ramos.
The Ravens added a pair of runs in the fourth, on two hits and one error. Savar tallied her second round tripper of the game in the bottom half to make it 18-3.
Savar and Alpaugh led the Cavaliers with five RBI apiece, while 10 Cavaliers recorded a hit in the game one victory.
Junior Chrissy Ferraro went 3-3 from the batter's box, scored three times and added a pair of RBI. Giordano tallied a pair of hits, to go along with two RBI and had another strong performance from the circle. The junior fanned seven Ravens and surrendered just two earned runs in five innings.
Cabrini's offense remained hot in game two, as the Blue and White tried to put the game away early with 13 runs in the first.
Freshman
Alexandra Schell led-off game two with a solo home run to right field, the rookie's first homer in her collegiate career. Schell stayed focused as the Cavaliers batted around to record her second long ball of the inning, as the freshman's three run blast to right field extended the Blue and White's lead to 9-0. Savar closed the inning with the day's second grand slam to left field.
Rosemont outscored the Blue and White 5-1 the rest of the way but Cabrini's' lead proved to be too much for the Ravens to overcome.

Schell finished with three hits, four RBI and two runs scored. Savar recorded four RBI, while senior Emily Smull added two. Alpaugh, Ramos, junior Victoria Hall and sophomore Taylor Franchville also registered an RBI in the win.
Junior Jenna Rodriguez pitched four innings, struck out three Ravens and allowed three earned runs.
Cabrini will look to stay in the win column
tomorrow, as it visits the Cairn Highlanders (6-7, 0-5 CSAC) for a doubleheader, beginning at
1pm.
