RUTGERS, NJ – The Cavaliers ended their season-long scoring drought, but it wasn't enough, as the Cabrini men's soccer team suffered a 5-1 loss at Rutgers-Camden tonight.
The loss keeps the Blue and White winless on the season at 0-4-1, while the Raptors improved to 2-3-1.
RUC opened the scoring late in the first half, as Cabrini tailed 1-0 at the half. Despite earning four corner kicks before the halftime break, the Cavaliers mustered just one first half shot to four for the Raptors.
The Raptors took control of the game in the opening minute of the second half, as a 46th minute tally marked the first of three RUC goals over the next 11 minutes.
Junior
Jared Irwin put Cabrini on the board in the 60th minute, converting a pass from senior
Ben Roda. The goal marked the first of the year for the Cavaliers, ending a 440 minute scoreless streak.
The good feelings did not last long, as RUC added the night's final goal just 62 seconds later.
Seven different Cavaliers accounted for the team's seven shots on the day, while sophomore
Mike Gould recorded one save for the Blue and White.
Clayton Taylor notched two goals for the Raptors, while goaltender Kieran Burns posted all four of his saves in the second half.
The Blue and White will look for a win on Saturday, as it pays a visit to Alvernia University (3-3). Kickoff is slated for 2pm in Reading, PA.
