Scranton, PA - The Cavalier women's soccer team picked up their third consecutive victory Saturday afternoon in a 2-1 win over the Marywood Pacers.
A late goal from rookie
Aysiah Cintron in the 84th minute proved to be the game winner and was the first of her young career.
Both teams nearly matched each other in the stats column as the Pacers held a slight advantage in shots (22-15) and corners (5-3) over the Blue and White. Today's contest marked the first time in four games an opponent has held the Cavs to under 23 shots.
Pacers' junior Megan Swiecicki opened up the scoring in the 21st minute to give the hosts' the early 1-0 lead. Marywood's defense was swarming in the first half as they held the Cavs to just four shots in the first 45 minutes and carried their 1-0 lead into the intermission.
Senior goalie
Gabby LeGendre was equally as dominant in the first half for the Blue and White as the defending CSAC Player of the Year showed why as she kept the Cavs in it with nine saves in the opening stanza.
Second half adjustments paid dividends for Cabrini as they quickly struck pay dirt in the 54th minute thanks to sophomore
Katelyn Gilinger's second goal of the year to even things at one a piece.
With just five minutes left in regulation, senior
Taylor Tralie rocketed a ball off the cross bar from 35 yards out when the aforementioned Cintron rushed for the rebound and buried it in the side netting for the game winner.
It was a tale of two halves for the Blue and White as they held the Pacers to just three second half shots, while recording 11 of their own.
With the win, the Cavs move to 5-1-3 overall and 3-0-2 in the CSAC. The Blue and White will next take the pitch when they travel to Notre Dame of Maryland University on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Game time is slated for 4pm.
