Big First Half Propels Women's Basketball to 68-44 Victory Over Cedar Crest

Allentown, PA - The Cabrini women's basketball team rolled to its' tenth consecutive victory this afternoon as they took down the Cedar Crest College Falcons by a 68-44 final. Cabrini used a dominant first half that featured crisp offense coupled with a suffocating defensive effort in the second half to propel themselves to a comfortable road victory.

Junior Gaby Jones paced the Cavalier offense with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while adding five rebounds. Freshmen Lexi Edwards and Kate Lannon each finished with 10 points in 21 minutes to round out the Cavs in double figures. Sophomore Cassidy Gallagher added a team high four assists, while junior Nomi Washington led the way with three steals.

As mentioned, the Blue and White came out hot as they quickly opened up a 16 point lead thanks to a 19-to-3 run to start the game. A pair of threes from Edwards and senior Kate Skalski highlighted the run and immediately swung the momentum in favor of the Cavs.. The Falcons would respond with a 7-to-3 spurt to end the quarter, cutting the Cavs' lead to 22-10.

Cabrini quickly regained any lost momentum with an 11-to-3 run to open the second quarter thanks to a pair of baskets from Jones and another three ball from Edwards. The Cavs and Falcons would swap baskets for the remainder of the quarter and head into the intermission with the Blue and White up 41-21.

Despite a tighter contested second half, the Cavs continued to extend their lead in both the third and fourth quarters thanks to stifling defense. The Blue and White forced eight second half turnovers, collected six steals, outrebounded the Falcons 25-to-21, and allowed just seven points in the fourth quarter.

With the victor,y the Cavaliers improve to 12-2 overall and stay a perfect 6-0 in the CSAC. They will have a chance to push their win streak to 11 games on Monday, January 15th when they host Widener University at 5pm in Nerney Field House.
