RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's basketball team rebounded from Monday's loss in a big way, as the Cavaliers scored a 100-67 win over the Cairn University Highlanders tonight at Nerney Field House.
With the win, the Blue and White improve to 15-3 overall and 10-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
All 13 Cavaliers in uniform saw action in tonight's win, with each marking the scoring column. Junior
Anthony Wright-Downing led Cabrini with a career best 19 points in 21 minutes off the bench. The junior connected on 9-10 from the field and secured eight rebounds.
Senior
Tyheim Monroe recorded his 17th double-double of the season, pairing 17 points and 16 boards to become the eight player in conference history to amass 1,800 career points, while sophomore
Keith Blassingale added 12 points.
Despite shooting nearly 45% from the field in the first half, the Cavaliers never really seemed to find their offensive rhythm. The Blue and White led by as many as eight points midway through the first half, but could not pull away from the Highlanders.
Cairn responded with an 11-3 spurt, evening the score at 24 with 6:28 left in the stanza.
Cabrini had a response of its own, as it got to the bucket on its next five possessions en route to a 10-0 run and a 34-24 lead. The Highlanders cut their deficit to six in the final minute of the half, but a Blassingale triple sent the Blue and White to the locker room leading 39-30.
The Cavaliers removed any doubt about the outcome of the game in the opening minutes of a dominant second half. A three pointer by freshman
DJ Smith capped an 8-0 in the opening minutes of the half.
Two minutes later, Cabrini put the game away. Leading 52-39 at the 16:24 mark. The Cavaliers went on a 12-0 run, capped by a three by sophomore
Robbie Brosh IV, that put the Blue and White ahead 64-39 with 14:12 to play.
Cabrini led by as many as 38 points, as senior
Chris Lawhorn drained a triple to give the Cavaliers a 93-55 lead with five minutes left on the clock.
The Cavaliers shot a blistering 71.4% (25-35) from the field as it outscored the Highlanders 61-37 after the break. The team recorded 17 assists on its 25 second half field goals and committed just five of its 11 turnovers in the second half.
Of the Blue and White's 61 second half points, 39 came off the bench and 36 came in the paint.

Brice Parks chipped in with seven points each.
Senior
Deryl Bagwell notched nine assists, just one off his career high in just 26 minutes on the floor.
Junior Jordan Koczman and sophomore Malachi Hall led Cairn (5-12, 2-10 CSAC) with 16 points each, but combined for just 10 in the second half.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, as they welcome the Centenary University Cyclones to Nerney Field House. Game time is slated for 4pm.
