Radnor, PA - The Cabrini women's basketball team never trailed in tonight's dominant 72-51 victory over the Cairn University Highlanders and pushed their win streak to 14 games in the process.
In total, nine different Cavs marked the scoring column, but were led by junior
Sabrina Hackendorn who finished with 17 points, six rebounds and five steals. Freshman
Lexi Edwards was the only other Cavalier to reach double figures as she tallied 10 points and two rebounds.
Senior
Kate Skalski, junior
Nomi Washington and sophomore
Cassidy Gallagher each added nine points a piece. Washington also chipped five steals and five assists as she flashed her all around game.
Fueled by a 15-to-4 run to open the game, the Cavs grabbed the momentum and raced out to a 25-11 lead after the opening 10 minutes. The Blue and White played stifling defense as they forced seven turnovers in the first quarter alone, leading to 11 points.
After extending their lead to 18 a minute into the second quarter, the Highlanders responded with a 7-to-0 spurt of their own to cut the Cavs' lead back to 29-18. A 13-to-4 run to end the half in favor of the Blue and White, however quickly stopped any momentum the Highlanders had gained as the Cavs led 42-22.
An even third quarter gave way to the fourth, highlighted by a deep three ball from senior
Kate Skalski with 2:39 left to give the Blue and White their largest lead of the game at 27 points, as they held a 72-45 advantage. Cairn would end with a 6-to-0 run to make the final 72-51.
With the win the Cavs move to 16-2 overall and stay perfect in the CSAC at 9-0. They will next take the hardwood on Saturday, January 27th when they welcome Centenary University to Nerney Field House for their Alumni Day.
