ARLINGTON, VA – With just two conference matches remaining in the regular season, the Cabrini men's soccer team stayed in the running for a postseason berth with tonight's 1-0 win at Marymount University.
The Cavaliers improved to 8-6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Atlantic East Conference, while the Saints fell to 2-12 overall and 1-4 in league play. The Blue and White have now won six of their last seven outings.
Both clubs played an even opening 45 minutes, splitting nine shots and recording one corner kick each.
Cabrini increased its pressure in the second half, outshooting the Saints 8-4 and forcing six corner kicks to just two for the home team.
The match remained scoreless until the 78th minute, when the Blue and White finally broke through the Saints' defense.

The Cabrini defense held firm over the game's final 10 minutes, holding Marymount to just one more shot and one corner kick.
The Cavaliers finished the night with 13 shots, including eight in the decisive second half. Seniors

Sal Zampirri Jr. led the Blue and White with three shots each, one more than junior
Christopher Araujo.

Mike Gould notched three saves to earn his first shutout of the season.
Sebastian Hendl and Mynor Danilo Lopez recorded two shots each for Marymount, while Jonathan Josue Cruz posted two saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers will return toe Edith Robb Dixon Field on Saturday, as they celebrate Senior Day and Alumni Day with a visit from Gwynedd Mercy.
The alums will take the pitch at 9:30am for their annual tilt, with the Cavaliers and Griffins to meet at 12 noon.
