READING, PA – The Cabrini swim teams continued to establish themselves as one of the regions up and coming teams today, as the Cavaliers stood toe to toe with Albright College. The ladies suffered a 133-29 defeat, while the men fell 163.5-86.5.
Sophomore
Tara McCloskey left her mark all over the result sheet, as the rookie set a program record and topped the podium four time.
McCloskey posted a winning time of 2:20.99 in the 200-yard individual medley, besting sophomore
Tori DeLusant's record from last season. The freshman also scored individual wins in the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes in 1:10.13 an 2:34.54, respective.
McCloskey opened the day's action on the right foot, as she teamed with juniors
Katherine Buckman and
Lauren Finnegan and freshman
Sarah Gudas to claim the 200-yard medley relay (2:00.33).
Like McCloskey, the relay marked the first of Finnegan's four wins on the day, as the junior reached the wall first in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events (56.67, 2:03.90) before closing the day with a winning effort in the 800-yard freestyle.
The quartet of Gudas, senior
Marissa Loro, freshman
Rachel Marek and Finnegan closed the meet with a victorious time of 8:38.80.
Buckman and freshman
Marisa Linsky also scored individual event wins today, as the junior claimed the 200-yard butterfly (2:30.73) and the rookie the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.0).
Junior
Matt Schaeffer and sophomore
Cameron Mousley paced the men, combining for three individual event wins. Schaeffer scored victories in the 50-yard freestyle (22.82) and 200-yard individual medley (2:06.42), while Mousley captured the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:22.18).
Freshmen
Marc Consiglio and
Mac Granto also made significant contributions, scoring a pair of second place finishes each. Consiglio placed second in the 100- and 200-yard breast stroke events, while Granto claimed the same spot in the 100- and 200-yard freestyles.
The Cavaliers have little time to enjoy today's performances, as they will return to action on Sunday afternoon, as they welcome Marywood University to the Dixon Center Pool. The Atlantic East Conference meet is slated to begin at 1pm.
