SWARTHMORE, PA - The Cabrini women's basketball team overcame a six point fourth quarter deficit to cap a come-from-behind 69-61 victory over the Wesleyan University Cardinals on Friday evening. The win secured the Cavs first victory of the season.

Nomi Washington paced the Cavalier offense with 21 points on 8-of-19 from the field, while adding six rebounds and three steals. Sophomore
Lexi Edwards added 15 points and six boards, while junior
Meghan Matthews and sophomore
Ashley Tutzauer rounded out the Cavaliers in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Blue and White defense, meanwhile limited the Cardinals to just 28.4 percent from the field, including a 21 percent mark from beyond the arc. Despite the Wesley defense holding the Cavs to just under 33 percent from the field, Cabrini was efficient from the charity stripe as they connected on 24-of-31 attempts.
After a nearly even first stanza in which the Cavs held a 16-14 lead, the Blue and White rattled off a 7-0 run to open the second frame. A Wesleyan triple from Charlotte Lowndes highlighted a 5-2 spurt for the Cardinals to cut the lead to 29-25 with 2:42 left in the half. Cabrini, however would push the lead to 35-28 before the intermission.
A huge 22-9 run in favor of Wesleyan that spanned the entire third quarter seemed to steal all the momentum from the Blue and White as it gave the Cardinals a 50-44 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Wesleyan pushed their lead to their largest of the game at six points with 6:32 left in the game, but a 17-8 Cavalier run over the final six minutes capped the come-from-behind victory. In total, the Cavs outscored the Cardinals by a 25-to-11 margin over the final frame.
Wesleyan's Tara Berger finished with a game high 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Cardinals.
As mentioned, the Cavs secured their first victory of the season following today's action as they improve to 1-1 overall. They will have a quick turnaround as they square off with Goucher College at 1pm tomorrow afternoon in their final game of the Swarthmore College Tip-Off Tournament.
