First Half Run Propels Cavs to 73-64 Victory Over Ravens

RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini women's basketball team evened their record at 2-2 this evening following a 73-64 victory over the visiting Rosemont College Ravens.

Senior Nomi Washington led all scorers with 24 points to pace the Cavaliers as well as adding 10 rebounds and four steals to secure her second double-double in as many games. Sophomore Kate Lannon also collected a double-double, her first of the season, following her 22 point, 12 rebound performance.

The pair combined to shoot 18-of-34 (56 percent) from the field and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Fellow sophomore Lexi Edwards added 14 points and three steals to round out the Cavaliers in double figures.

After Rosemont opened the game on a 13-4 run spanning the first seven minutes of play, the Blue and White answered with an impressive 28-5 run to flip momentum and take a 32-18 lead with just three minutes left in the half. Stout defense paved the way for the Cavaliers' big run as they held the Ravens to just 3-of-14 from the field and forced six turnovers in the second stanza.

The Blue and White pushed their lead to a game high 18 points at the 5:37 mark in the third quarter following an and-one from sophomore Brianna Blair. A 20-6 run from Rosemont, however trimmed the lead to 53-51 with just 7:09 left to play.

The two point deficit would be as close as the Ravens would get thanks to a key triple from Edwards and a shifty layup from junior Cassidy Gallagher with just over a minute left.

Ayanna Thompson led Rosemont with a team best 15 points, while Ashley Murray hauled in 10 boards and chipped in five points.

Following tonight's action, the Blue and White improve to 2-2 overall and will look to keep things rolling as they head to William Paterson University next Monday, November 26th. Game time is slated for 6pm.
