ALFRED, NY – The Cabrini swim teams made the long trip to Alfred State College today, and emerged with a pair of victories. The Cavaliers won 20 of the meet's 28 events, as the women scored a 142-120 win, while the men were victorious 153-107.
Sophomore
Cameron Mousley was one of five men's swimmers to top the podium today, as the sophomore notched three victories. Mousley reached the wall first in the 400-yard individual medley (4:37.68), 500-yard freestyle (5:13.68) and 1,000-yard freestyle (10:47.11).
Junior
Matt Schaeffer and freshman
Mac Granto added two individual event wins as well. The junior scored wins in the 50-yard freestyle (23.12) and 100-yard butterfly (56.61), while the rookie triumphed in the 100-yard freestyle (51.06) and 200-yard freestyle (1:52.85).
Senior
Ryan Brong and sophomore
Kurt Schuehler also posted wins, capturing the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.98) and 200-yard backstroke (2:13.67).
The Blue and White men also bookended the meet with relay wins. Sophomore
Luke McDevitt, freshman
Marc Consiglio, Schaeffer and Granto teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.96), while the quartet closed the day with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3;26.20).
Juniors
Katherine Buckman and
Lauren Finnegan paced the women's team, scoring two wins each. Buckman reached the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.95) and 200-yard butterfly (2:34.18), while Finnegan scored victories in the 500-yard freestyle (5:39.69) and 1,000 yard freestyle (11:40.71).
Sophomores
Tori DeLusant and
Tara McCloskey and freshmen
Sarah Gudas and
Rachel Marek also stood atop the winner's podium.
DeLusant claimed the 400-yard individual medley (5:19.66), while McCloskey won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:39.12). Gudas and Marek also scored victories in the 100-yard freestyle (58.45) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.51), respectively.
The quartet of freshman
Marisa Linsky, McCloskey, Finnegan and Gudas also teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay (2:00.95).
The Cavaliers will return to the Dixon Center Pool next Saturday, as they welcome Franciscan University and Bethany College. The action will get underway at 1pm.
