LAS VEGAS, NV - The Cabrini women's basketball team couldn't rebound following a cold start as they dropped their opening round matchup in the Las Vegas Hoopla tournament to Wartburg College by a 68-48 final. 

The Cavs were led offensively by sophomore's Kate Lannon and Ashley Tutzauer who totaled 12 and 11 points, respectively. Lannon narrowly missed a double-double as the forward posted nine rebounds, four of which came on the offensive glass. 

Classmate Lexi Edwards added nine points, while senior Nomi Washington chipped in seven points and six rebounds. 

As mentioned, a slow start plagued the Cavs against the Knights as they shot just 17 percent in the first half, leading to a 19 point deficit following the opening 20 minutes of play. Conversely, Wartburg converted on 52 percent of their first half attempts en route to a 39-20 lead. The Knights' Emma Gerdes led all scorers with 15 points at the break. 

The second half proved more fruitful for the Blue and White as they totaled 28 points across the final 20 minutes of play, but it was ultimately too little, too late as the Knights were able to outlast the Cavs. 

Despite the outcome, the Cabrini defense continued to force turnovers as they induced 21 from the Knights. In total, five different Cavs tallied at least two steals, led by Washington's and junior Megan Matthews' three steals each. 

The Blue and White will look to rebound tomorrow as they square off against Salisbury University to cap off the Las Vegas Hoopla. Game time is slated for 5pm.
