HUNTINGDON, PA - The Cabrini men's basketball team could not overcome a hot shooting Wilson Team today, falling to the Phoenix 102-91 in the consolation game of the Doc Greene Tournament at Juniata College.
The Blue and White's fifth consecutive loss dropped the team to 2-7 on then year.
Senior
Anthony Wright-Downing led a balanced Cabrini offense that featured four double figure scorers. Then senior paired 23 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Classmate
Alsmith Saintilus added a season best 19 points, while sophomore
DJ Smith scores 18 points, with each draining five three pointers.
Freshman
Voshon Mack chipped in with 16 points, while sophomore
Trey Smith recorded nine points and six assists.
The Phoenix took control of the action in the opening minutes, scoring the game's first seven points. Before the Cavaliers could break a sweat, Wilson had established a double figure lead. The lead expanded to 26-4 just over six minutes after the opening whistle.
The Blue and White trailed by as many as 25 points late in the first half, as Wilson shot .625 from the field, including 9-14 from three point range.
On the the other side of the floor, Cabrini connected on 16-33 from the floor before the break with just seven turnovers.
The Cavaliers looked to make a move in the second half, but could not slow the Phoenix's hot shooting.
Keion Adams led Wilson with 29 points on 12-15 shooting, while Rashaan Bean hit 9-13 en route to 25 points.
The Cavaliers will have some time to regroup, as they will not return to action until Dec. 20 when they host York College. Game time is set for 6pm.
