CHESTER, PA – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team battled back from a three goal halftime deficit and forced overtime, but a golden goal 67 seconds into the extra period sent the Blue and White to an 11-10 loss at Widener.
The defeat drops the Cavaliers to 1-4 on the season, while the Pride improved to 2-3.
Junior
Emma Rodner-Tims had a career day, recording a career best three goals to go with an assists and four ground balls. Classmate
Avery Murphy matched Rodner-Tims with three goals and controlled six draws, while fellow junior
Liz Hoeffner paired two goals, a helper, three ground balls and four draw controls.
Senior
Jackie Neary chipped in with three caused turnovers, three draw controls, three ground balls and a goal. Junior goaltender
Devon Scharf recorded a career high 13 saves in the loss.
Cabrini fell behind in the opening minute, before Rodner-Tims found Hoeffner 40 seconds later to even the score. Two minutes later, Murphy put the Blue and White ahead with her 22nd goal of the season.
Widener again evened the score with a free position shot at the 21:08 mark. Neary put the Blue and White ahead three minutes later with her first goal of the season. The Pride grabbed its first lead of the night with 11:30 left in the first stanza. Rodner-Tims added a goal to her earlier assist with a free position goal at the 10:51, marking the fourth tie of the first half.
Unfortunately for Cabrini, it would be the last of the half, as Widener took control of the scoreboard with three unanswered goal to build a 7-4 halftime lead.
The Blue and White began its comeback early in the second half, as Rodner-Tims netted her second goal less than two minutes into the stanza. Freshman

Kathleen Emche for her second career goal before Murphy's free position goal again leveled the score at 7-7 with 14:45 left in regulation.
Just 30 seconds later, the Pride answered with a free position shot of its own to regain the lead. Rodner-Tims completed her hat trick with 10:57 to play, tying the score at 8-8. Hoeffner's second tally of the night broke the dead lock and put the Blue and White ahead with just south of seven minutes on the clock.
Widener briefly tied the score at 9-9 at the 5:15 mark, but Murphy's free position shot gave the Cavaliers their final lead at 10-9. The Pride converted another free position shot with 3:35 to play.
Neither team created a solid scoring chance over the final three minutes, sending the game to overtime.

Melanie Bart led Widener with four goals and an assist, while Ashley Mastronardo added three goals. Goaltender Katie Hayes tallied 11 saves to secure the victory.
The Blue and White will look to snap its four game losing streak on Friday, when it opens Colonial States Athletic Conference play with a trip to Centenary University (0-3). Game time is scheduled for 2pm in Hackettstown, NJ.
