Women's Lacrosse Opens CSAC Play with 17-2 Win

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – The Cavaliers saw their four game losing streak come to an end today, as the Blue and White scored a 17-2 win at Centenary University. The victory improved Cabrini to 2-4 overall.

With today's win in the team's CSAC opener, the Cavaliers have extended their conference win streak to 50 games.

Cabrini wasted little time taking control of today's action, as junior Avery Murphy scored the first of her four goals just 10 seconds after the opening whistle. The Cavaliers never looked back, as they outshot the Cyclones 17-1 in the first half.

The Blue and White recorded 23 shots on the day to just four for Centenary, including 21-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Ten Cavaliers marked the scoring column in today's action, led by Murphy's four.  Fellow junior Liz Hoeffner paired three goals and three assists.  Sophomore Lauren Hughes and freshman Taylor Dimmerling added two goals each and combined for three assists.

Sophomore MaryKate Kane joined freshmen Ashley Tutzauer and Shannon Agnew with their first career goals, while sophomore Mattie Porter notched her first of the season. Seniors Sara Johnsen and Emily Crouse also scored for the Cavaliers.

Freshman Sarah McCarron also recorded her first career point with a first half assist.

Senior Jackie Neary earned game-high honors with seven draw controls, two more than Murphy.  Junior Emma Rodner-Tims paired five ground balls and four caused turnovers, while six other Cavaliers scooped two ground balls each. Hoeffner and classmate Katie Kucia forced two turnovers each.

Junior goaltender Devon Scharf posted on first half save to earn the victory, while sophomore Noelia Ramirez and freshman Lauren Buck saw second half action in the Cabrini cage.

Sydney D'Ortone and Nicole Soriero marked the scoring column for the Cyclones (0-4, 0-1 CSAC).

The Blue and White will return to action next Friday, as they welcome Keystone College (1-1) to Radnor. The opening draw is slated for 4pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
