Radnor, PA - The Cabrini baseball team climbed back over the .500 mark on the young season as they swept out the Bears of St. Joseph's College - Brooklyn thanks to dominant pitching in both games and an offensive outburst in game two.
Game One: Cabrini 6, St. Joseph's 0
Senior
Josh Breittholz set the tone early for the Blue and White as the righty tossed a complete game three hitter and faced just four over the minimum for his second victory of the season. The East Stroudsburg native struck out three and allowed just one walk..
Junior
John Lindeborn and sophomore
Joe Aurite paced the Cavalier offense as they each finished 1-3 with a run scored and two RBI's. In total, six different Cavs marked the hit column.
Alex Del Giudice also made his presence felt as the sophomore walked twice and came around to score both times.
Cabrini didn't waste time as they pushed across the games first runs in bottom of the second thanks to a two RBI double to left center off the bat of Aurite. After a wild pitch allowed Aurite to advance to third, junior
Tyler Norris roped a single through the left side to plate the speedy second baseman.
The Blue and White tacked on insurance runs in the sixth as senior
Dylan Butler led things off with a single to left and was promptly moved to second following a Del Giudice walk. With runners on first and second, Lindeborn squeezed a double just inside the left field line to bring home Butler and Del Giudice.
A double off the bat of freshman
Mack McKisson would plate Lindeborn and give Breittholz all he would need to lock down the game one victory.
Game Two: Cabrini 16, St. Joseph's 1
The Cavalier offense found their stroke in game two as they erupted for 16 runs off 17 hits, while the pitching continued to shut down the SJCB offense.
Freshman
Ray Lutick toed the rubber in game two and turned in a solid five inning performance as he allowed just four hits and one earned, while striking out four.
Sophomore
Joseph Schipsi came on in relief of Lutick to start the sixth and closed the door, allowing just a single hit and striking out two.
Seven different Cavs tallied at least two RBI's as Lindeborn led the bunch with three. The junior finished 2-3 in game two, with three RBI's, two stolen bases and a run scored.
After the Bears pushed across their lone run of the day in the games opening frame, the Cabrini offense responded with a five spot in the second inning thanks to two separate two RBI doubles from Lindeborn and Norris, as well as an RBI from rookie
JD Barrett.
The Blue and White added two runs in the third and seven runs in the fourth to balloon their lead to 14-1, before sophomore
Brendan Van Belle capped the scoring in the sixth courtesy of a two RBI single to left to make it 16-1.
With the sweep, the Cavaliers improve to 7-6 overall and will look to continue their hot play as they host PSU Brandywine tomorrow at noon at Cabrini Carroll Field.
