Diamond Cavs Can't Hold Off Garnet In 6-3 Loss

Swarthmore, PA - The Cabrini baseball team couldn't hold off a late rally from host Swarthmore College this evening as the Blue and White dropped to 9-7 overall.

Junior John Lindeborn paced the Cavalier offense with three hits on the day, knocking in one while also coming around to score once. Freshman JD Barrett secured Cabrini's other RBI thanks to a groundout to second.

Five other Cavs picked up a hit on the day, highlighted by freshman Mack McKisson's fourth double of the season; the rookie owns a .737 SLG% after tonight's action.

Freshman Corey Hunt earned the start for the Cavs and tossed 4.2 quality innings as he allowed just two earned off five hits.

The Blue and White struck first as they pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the third, courtesy of Barrett's aforementioned groundout and a single to right from Lindeborn.

The Garnet evened things at two in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI groundout off the bat of Kenji Yoshii.

Cabrini would respond in the following frame after McKisson laid down a SAC bunt that Swarthmore pitcher Adam Schauer misplayed, allowing Lindeborn to score and give the Cavs the 3-2 lead.

Swarthmore would erase the Cavalier lead yet again in the eighth, this time for good, as they pushed across four runs on four hits and one error for the eventual 6-3 final.

Garnet reliever Jackson Ramey (1IP, 1H, 1K) earned the victory, while teammate Jack Corkery (1IP, 0H, 2K) picked up the save. Freshman reliever Shane Souchuck (1.2IP, 4H, 3ER, 1K) was saddled with the loss.

The Blue and White move to 9-7 overall after tonight's action, but will look to secure their 10th win of the season on Thursday, March 29th when they travel to Haverford, PA to take on the Fords. First pitch is slated for 3:30pm.
