EWING, NJ – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team's bid for an early season upset fell short, as the Cavaliers suffered a 19-1 loss at No. 2 The College of New Jersey.
The loss dropped the Blue and White to 1-2 on the season, while the Lions improved to 3-0.
Juniors
Liz Hoeffner and
Avery Murphy combined for 12 of Cabrini's 18 shots, with Hoeffner recording the team's lone goal on a Murphy assist.

Katie Kucia caused three turnovers and scooped five ground balls, while senior
Jackie Neary added two draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Devon Scharf tallied nine saves in the loss.
After a scoreless opening 10 minutes, TCNJ found its offensive rhythm, scoring four goals in a five minute span. The Lions built a 7-0 cushion before Hoeffner's ninth goal of the season put the Cavaliers on the board.
Despite watching TCNJ record 14 first half turnovers, the Blue and White could not solve the Lions' offensive attack and trailed 12-1 at the half.
The Cavaliers could not establish a consistent offense, as it recorded 11 first half shots and completed just six of its 15 clearing attempts.
Olivia Cleale paced the 2017 NCAA runner-up with 10 points on four goals and six assists, while Alex Fitzpatrick added fve goals.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, when they visit Haverford College (2-1). Game time is slated for 1pm.
