Radnor, PA - The Cabrini offense mustered just four hits in a 13-1 loss to the visiting Gwynedd Mercy Griffins this afternoon.
Freshman
Mack McKisson continued his hot play as the rookie tallied three of the Cavs' four hits, including a double and a run scored, to pace the offense. McKisson owns an impressive triple slash (BA/OBP/SLG) of .467/.556/.667, all of which stand as team highs. His .556 OBP also stands as the high mark in the conference.
Senior
Dylan Butler tallied the Cavaliers' other base knock, finishing the day 1-3.
Classmate
Josh Breittholz entered the day with a shining 1.66 ERA, but was tagged for six runs (five earned) in 3.1 innings against the Griffins. The outing dropped his record to 2-1 on the year, while raising his ERA to 3.24.
In total, Blue and White pitchers combined for 11 walks and four hit batters, giving Gwynedd Mercy 15 free base runners.
Griffins' starter RJ Boyle was impressive as he stifled the Cabrini offense for eight innings, allowing just four hits and one earned. The sophomore struck out two and did not allow a walk.
Gwynedd jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the top of the second following a double down the right field line from Bobby Heck.
Cabrini responded in the bottom half of the inning as McKisson led off with a double to left center, his 10th of the season, and moved to third thanks to a passed ball. A soft groundout from sophomore
Vince Gares served its purpose as it evened the score at 1 apiece. The threat would end there, however, as Boyle induced a fly out from freshman
Brett Swire to end the inning.
Gwynedd would push across the game winning run in the following inning off of a solo home run from Dave Tatoian. Tatoian would end the day 3-4 with two home runs and four RBI's.
The Cavaliers move to 13-14 overall on the season and drop to 2-5 in conference play. They will have a chance for revenge on Wednesday, April 18th when they travel to Gwynedd Valley, PA to cap the series against the Griffins.
