Immaculata, PA - The Cabrini baseball team kept things rolling this afternoon as they used 16 hits to top the host Immaculata University Mighty Macs by a 9-3 final.
Freshman
Ray Lutick was superb for the Blue and White as the starter nearly tossed a complete game, going eight strong innings and allowing just three earned on five hits. The rookie also struck out six batters, marking the most strikeouts for a Cavalier pitcher this season.
The offense was equally as impressive as they recorded their most hits in a game since facing Clarks Summit on April 13th. Led by junior
John Lindeborn, freshman
Mack McKisson and senior
Brett Kuchera, the Cavs 3-4-5 hitters went a combined 9-15 at the dish, scoring five runs and knocking in six. Lindeborn's three RBI's and three runs scored were a game high, while McKisson tallied a game high with four hits.
Sophomores
Vince Gares and
Joe Aurite struck for two hits apiece, as well.
McKisson led off the scoring with an RBI double in the top of the first to give the Blue and White the early 1-0 lead. The RBI was McKisson's 21 of the season, putting him in a tie for second on the team with junior
Tyler Norris.
The Cavs added two more runs in the fourth thanks to RBI's from Kuchera and Gares and four more runs in the sixth to balloon the lead to 7-0. Lindeborn delivered the big blow in the sixth as the junior smacked his third homer of the year, this one of the three run variety. Lindeborn leads the Blue and White and ranks third in the conference with 36 RBI's.
Immaculata would push across their first run of the game in the bottom half of the inning courtesy of an RBI double from Richard Fontanilas.
A Kuchera homer and Norris RBI single in the ninth would add a couple more insurance runs for the visitors and allow the Cavs to coast to the eventual 9-3 final.
Following today's action, Cabrini improves to 18-16 on the season and 7-6 against CSAC competition. They will look to stay hot as they end the series against the Mighty Macs on Wednesday, May 2nd at Cabrini-Carroll Field. Game time is slated for 3pm.
