MIDDLETOWN, CT – The Cabrini men's lacrosse season came to an end today, as the Cavaliers suffered a 12-7 loss at No. 5 Wesleyan in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
The loss ends the Blue and White's campaign with a 17-3 overall record, tied for most wins in season in program history.
The loss also closes the career of Cabrini's seven seniors

Joey Hoey,
Robby Jennette,
Riley Michaels,
Josh Moore,
Ethan Trusty and
Nicholas Waligurski. As a group, these student-athletes led the Cavaliers to 62 victories, including four CSAC titles and four NCAA Tournament wins.
The Blue and White seemed to be in control during the opening 15 minutes of today's games, as the Cavaliers outshot the host Cardinals 19-3. Despite its advantage, Cabrini marked the scoring column only once, as junior
Jordan Krug hit Gregory to give the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead after the first quarter.
Wesleyan got on the board early in the second period, but junior
Timmy Brooks and Waligurski found the back of the net to regain a 2-1 lead for Cabrini with 10:02 left in the first half. The Cardinals pulled within 3-2 at the break, netting a man-up goal with just 73 seconds left in the quarter.
The Cardinals wasted little time in evening the score, leveling he game just 35 seconds into the third quarter. Brooks and sophomore
Jake Klein marked the scoring column to put Cabrini back in the lead midway through the third.
Wesleyan took control of the game over the next several minutes, as the Cardinals kept the Cavaliers off the board over the next 12 minutes. Meanwhile, Wesleyan ran off six unanswered goals to build a 9-5 lead with 11:45 to play.
The Cavaliers took advantage of a one minute non-releasable penalty, as sophomore
Mike Gerzabek and Krug tallied man up goals, cutting the deficit to 9-7 with 9:29 to play.
Unfortunately, the Blue and White could not hold the Cardinals, as they recorded the game's final three goals.
Despite outshooting Wesleyan 42-36, the Cavaliers recorded a season-low 14 shots on goal to 22 for Wesleyan. Cabrini also recorded a season-high 20 turnovers and scooped just 28 ground balls, among its fewest all season.
Brooks scored two goals for the Cavaliers, while Krug paired a goal and four assists.
Sophomore
Tommy DeLuca paired four caused turnovers and four ground balls, while classmate
Bobby Cressman caused three turnovers and scooped two loose balls. Michaels matched DeLuca with four ground balls, one more than Brooks and junior goaltender
Riley White, who also tallied nine saves.
Ronan Jacoby and Harry Stanton scored three goals each for Wesleyan (16-3), who will face No. 6 Tufts (18-1) in Wednesday's national quarterfinal round.
