RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team fell to short in its 2018 debut, as the Cavaliers suffered a 3-1 loss to Haverford College tonight on a soggy Edith Robb Dixon Field pitch.
The Cavaliers struggled to build a sustained offensive attack, as it recorded just three shots to 17 from the Fords.
Haverford built an early lead, as Noah Schwab the night's first goal on a 10th minute header off a corner kick.
The Blue and White's deficit remained at 1-0 until the 75th minute, when Haverford's Nick Jannelli put the Fords up 2-0 with a curling shot around Cabrini's junior goaltender
Mike Gould.
Just four minutes later, the Cavaliers got on the board, as a driven corner kick service found junior
Andre Justin for a head ball goal.
Cabrini pressed to notch the equalizer, but an 83rd minute goal by Haverford's Kevin Kaufman put the Cavaliers in a two goal hole with just minutes to play.
Gould finished the night with three saves, while senior
Jared Irwin and sophomore
Ray Wilson joined Justin with shots.
Haverford's Michael Iacono was called on for just one save to earn the victory.
The Cavaliers will look to regroup before returning to action on Sunday, as they host Widener University (1-0). Game time is slated for 12pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
