Women's Soccer Scores Third Straight Victory With 4-2 Win Over Alvernia

Radnor, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer team secured their third consecutive victory this afternoon thanks to a 4-2 final over visiting Alvernia University.

The Blue and White highlighted their effort with three second half goals off just six shots.

Cabrini once again received contributions from all over the field as all four goals came from different players. In total, 12 different Cavaliers have marked the scoring column this season through just seven games.

Sophomore Alex Garces opened up the scoring in the 11th minute for the Cavs as she took a pass from junior Katelyn Gilinger inside the box and finished for the 1-0 advantage.

The early lead would hold through halftime until Diana VanSickle doubled the Cavalier lead in the 54th minute. The junior finished in front of the net following a cross from Garces. Just eight minutes later senior Tori Kasper tallied her first goal of the season after she side-stepped a Golden Wolves defender and snuck the ball just inside the right post.

Alvernia would answer with two goals of their own, however, as leading scorer Alison Hyde and Johnna Shank made it just a 3-2 Cabrini lead in less than two minutes.

The Blue and White would get their insurance goal thanks to sophomore Brittany Purdy's third tally of the year in the 79th minute.

A pair of late shots from Hyde would pose as the biggest threat to the Cavs, but sophomore Ashley Tutzauer and the Cavalier back line held strong en route to the 4-2 final. Tutzauer finished with a season high seven saves to anchor the Cavs defensive effort.

Cabrini will look to run their win streak to four games when they next travel to Chestertown, MD to take on Washington College on Tuesday, September 25th. Game time is slated for 4pm.
