RADNOR, PA – Freshman
Nick Booth's first career goal came in a big spot today, as the rookie scored the game-winner in the 87th minute of Cabrini's 2-1 victory over Alvernia University today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The win gave the cavaliers their first consecutive wins of the season and improved the club to 4-5-1 overall.
After 60 minutes of up and down, scoreless soccer action, the Blue and White found its way onto the scoreboard in the 61st minute, as sophomore
Dani Acevedo's back heel pass found junior
Derrick Amoako streaking toward the Alvernia goal.
The Golden Wolves pressed to even the score, and their pressure paid off in the 85th minute. Alvernia mounted quick counterattack that paid dividends, as freshman Braden Kreider's one-touch pass found sophomore Ryan Kuster to even the score at 1-1.
The tie was short lived, as Cabrini's pressure forced a throw-in deep in Alvernia's defensive end. The ball bounced inside the penalty area before Booth got a boot to it for a one-touch shot into the back of the net.
Amoako accounted for three of the Blue and White's eight shots on the day and two of its four attempts on net. Sophomore goaltender
Anthony Zampirri posted five saves, including four after the break, to earn the victory.
The Cavaliers face their first Atlantic East Conference action on Wednesday, as they make the trip to Wesley College. Game time is slated for 7pm in Dover, DE.
