ASHLAND, VA - The Cabrini men's soccer team could not carry the momentum from Wednesday's overtime victory into today's match at Randolph-Macon, as the Cavaliers suffered a 3-0 loss.
The defeat dropped the Blue and White to 1-3 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 3-1.
The Cavaliers fell behind in the game opening minutes, as R-MC scored just 136 seconds after the opening whistle. The Yellow Jackets added to their lead in the 18th minute.
Despite recording seven first half shots and earning four corner kicks to just two for R-MC, the Cavaliers trailed 2-0 at the half.
Unfortunately, the Blue and White could not mount a comeback, as it failed to record a shot in the second half.
R-MC took advantage, adding an insurance goal in the 74th minute.
Sophomore goaltender
Anthony Zampirri posted seven saves in the loss, while junior
Christopher Araujo recorded the Cavaliers' only shot on target.
Cabrini finished the afternoon with five corner kicks, one more than RMC, but was outshot 20-7.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, as they face Rutgers University-Camden (2-0-1). Kickoff is slated for 7pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
