Men's Basketball Snaps Streak with 96-86 Win over Wesley

RADNOR, PA – The Cavaliers put together one of their best all-around performances today, as the Cabrini men's basketball team snapped its losing streak with a 96-86 victory over Wesley College at Nerney Field House.

The Blue and White (3-13, 1-2 Atlantic East) shot nearly .470 from the field and .421 from three point range, among its best outputs of the season. The team also grabbed 45 rebounds and blocked seven shots, both season bests, while its 16 assists were just two off a season-high.

Seven Cavaliers scored north of seven points, with four in double figures. Senior Ivan Robinson led the way with a season high 21 points.  Freshman Voshon Mack and senior Anthony Wright-Downing added 17 and 14 points, respectively, with each grabbing 10 rebounds.

Fellow senior DeVahnté Mosley reached a career milestone in posting 11 points, seven boards and six assists today. With a lay-up in the final minute of the first half, the senior reached the 1,000 career point plateau.

After trailing early, the Cavaliers responded with a 10-9 to build a 19-13 lead midway through the first half and never looked back. Over the next 10 minutes, Cabrini outscored Wesley 23-7, pushing its cushion to 18 points after senior Mike Doyle was fouled on a three point attempt.

The Blue and White shot .405 in the first half and attempted 12 more field goals than the visitor, as Cabrini carried a 47-31 lead into the halftime break.

Cabrini showed no let-up in the second half, as Doyle's steal and dish found Mack for a dunk to open the second stanza. Minutes later, sophomore Brice Parks put Cabrini ahead 59-36 with 15:10 to play.

The Wolverines would not go away, as the team's leading scorers, senior Evan Anderson and sophomore Brian Cameron, found their offensive rhythms. Over the next nine minutes, Wesley outscored the Cavaliers 35-16, with the duo accounting for 24 of the 35 points. With six minutes to play, the Cabrini lead had been whittled to just 77-71.

The Cavaliers remained tough, connecting on each of their final four field goal attempts and draining 10 of its 12 free throw attempts over the game's final two minutes.

Sophomore Billy Warren chipped in with nine points for the Cavaliers, one more than classmate Trey Smith and two more than Parks. Senior Anthony Linder-Creo also made the most of his 2:03 of game action, pairing five points and five rebounds, including four on the offensive side of the floor.

Cameron led the Wolverines (7-9, 1-2 Atlantic East) with 26 points, while Anderson finished with 24.

The Cavaliers will look to build a win streak on Wednesday, as they welcome Immaculata University (6-9, 2-2 Atlantic East) to Nerney Field House. The action is slated to get underway at 8pm.
