A Balanced Attack Lead to Men's Basketball's 97-83 Win over Immaculata

RADNOR, PA – The Cavaliers rode a dominant first half to a 97-83 victory over the Immaculata University Mighty Macs tonight at Nerney Field House.

The Blue and White's second consecutive win improved the club to 4-13 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic East Conference.

Cabrini displayed a balanced offense that boasted eight players between 8-13 points, while holding the Mighty Macs to just .308 shooting and 22 points in the first half.

Senior DeVahnté Mosley and freshman Voshon Mack led the Cavaliers with 13 points each, while senior Anthony Wright-Downing added 11 points, one more than classmate Ivan Robinson.   

Seven Cavaliers also secured at least for boards as well, led by six rebounds by Mack and senior Anthony Linder-Creo. Sophomore Billy Warren paired five boards and three blocked shots, while Wright-Downing tallied five boars, five assists and a pair of steals.

The Blue and White wasted little time in taking control of the action, as it scored 27 of the game's first 35 points, establishing a 27-8 lead at the 11:22 mark.

Cabrini never allowed Immaculata to find its rhythm, as sophomore DJ Smith's triple in the final minute of the first half gave the Cavaliers a commanding 52-22 lead at the half.

Cabrini used its first half defense to take control of the game, as it held Immaculata to just 8-26 shooting and turned 12 Mighty Macs turnovers into 19 points.

Offensively, the Blue and White shot .571 from the field, including 7-13 from three point range, and recorded assists on seven of its 20 first half field goals.

The Cavalier showed no let-up in the early minutes of the second half, as Robinson's three pointer pushed the Blue and White lead to a game-high 57-26 at the 16:48 mark.

Cabrini's lead swung between 23-29 points for 16 minutes of the second half before the Mighty Macs chipped away in the final minutes.

The Blue and White marked season-highs with 97 points, 45 rebounds, 19 assists and seven blocked shots, while its 12 made three pointers and 14 offensive rebounds were among the team's highest output of the campaign.

Linder-Creo joined fellow senior Alsmith Saintilus and sophomore Brice Parks with eight points each in the win.

Senior Mike Piekarski led the Mighty Macs (7-10, 2-3 Atlantic East) with 20 points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots, including 17 points in the second half. Sophomore Brandon McCullough added 19 points in the loss.

Prior to the game, Cabrini Director of Athletics & Recreation Brad Koch and head coach Tim McDonald presented a commemorative ball to Mosley, who recorded his 1,000th career point in Saturday's victory over Wesley.

The Cavaliers will hit the road on Saturday, as they visit Neumann University (9-9, 0-5 Atlantic East). Game time is set for 3pm at the Mirenda Center in Aston, PA.
