Women's Basketball Stays Hot Following 66-42 Victory Over Pacers

SCRANTON, PA - The Cabrini women's basketball team reeled off their seventh consecutive victory Wednesday evening following a comfortable 66-42 final over the Marywood University Pacers.

The Blue and White were led offensively by senior Nomi Washington who tallied 19 points on an efficient 8-of-12 from the field in just 19 minutes of action.

Sophomore Kate Lannon recorded her third double double of the season after pairing 11 points and 10 rebounds, while classmate Lexi Edwards and junior Meghan Matthews rounded out the Cavaliers in double figures with 10 points each.

The Cavalier defense was dominant on the night as they held the Pacers to just 13 made field goals and 27.7 percent from the field, highlighted by the Pacers shooting just 18 percent in the third quarter. The defense also forced a total of 21 turnovers and scored 18 points off turnovers.

Cabrini jumped out to a 7-0 lead just under the eight minute mark, highlighted by a triple from freshman Dani Tyrell. A 9-to-0 Pacer run ensued to give Marywood their first lead of the game, but back-to-back three pointers from sophomore Ashley Tutzauer sparked an 11-to-2 Cavalier run to end the quarter.

The Cavs cushioned their lead in the second quarter thanks to a 14-to-5 run to balloon the score to 38-19 at the intermission.

As mentioned, the Cavalier defense had their way in the third quarter as they limited the Marywood offense to just 2-of-11 from the field. The Pacer drought allowed the Blue and White to pull away as they built a game high 29 point lead following a layup from Edwards with 5:08 to play in the quarter.

An even final stanza gave way to the eventual 66-42 final and the Cavs' 13th win of the season.

In addition to securing their 13th win of the year, the Cavs also stayed perfect in Atlantic East play as they improve to 8-0 in conference. They will look to keep things rolling when they travel to Dover, DE on Wednesday, February 6th to take on Wesley College. Game time is slated for 6pm.
