RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's basketball team 's late comeback fell just short, as the Cavaliers suffered a 92-86 loss to SUNY Cortland tonight at Nerney Field House.
The Blue and White fell to 2-11 with its ninth consecutive loss, while the Red Dragons improved to 9-2 on the season.
Cabrini got balanced scoring, with five Cavaliers scoring in double figures. Senior
Anthony Wright-Downing paced the club with 22 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots, while freshman
Voshon Mack led all scorers with 24 points.

Cortland used a deep shooting tough to gain an early advantage, as the Red Dragons raced to a 25-10 lead midway through the first half. The Cavaliers struggled to overcome the visitors' advantage, as Cortland connected on 10-21 from three pint range in the first half.
Meanwhile, Cabrini could not find its deep range, shooting just 2-12 from beyond the arc in the first half and returned to the dressing room trailing 51-39 at the half.
The Cavaliers wasted little time cutting into its deficit, opening the second stanza on a 9-2 run to pull within 53-48 just two minutes into the half. Another Cortland triple on the ensuing possession stemmed the Blue and White run and pushed the Red Dragons' lead back to eight points.
For much of the second half, Cabrini's deficit caromed between 6-9 points, until the Blue and White made one final charge.
Trailing 87-79 with 2:37 to play, Mack and Wright-Downing connected on back to back lay-ups to pull within 87-83 with 1:45 on the clock. Neither team marked the scoreboard over the next 68 seconds, until Cortland connected on three of four free throws over its next two possessions to push its lead back to seven.
Robinson found Saintilus for a three on Cabrini's next possession, cutting the deficit back to four points, but again the Red Dragons were solid at the charity stripe, sealing the win with two more free throws.
While the Cavaliers held the Red Dragons to just .429 shooting in the second half, Cortland earned the victory on the strength of 20-21 free throw shooting after the break.
Cabrini finished the night with a season-low five turnovers, while recording 16 assists, among the team's highest output of the season.
Senior Justin Cooper paired 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead four Red Dragons in double figure scoring. Junior Ryan Schmadel added 19, while senior Nicky Bonura chipped in with 17.
The Cavaliers have little time to regroup, as they will return to the Nerney Field House hardwood on Saturday at 1pm, when they host Lancaster Bible College (5-5).
