Women's Basketball Cruises to Victory Over Marywood in Atlantic East Action

RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini women's basketball team took care of business on their home court as they handled the visiting Marywood University Pacers in a 75-45 victory.

The sophomore duo of Kate Lannon and Lexi Edwards led the way for the Blue and White as they combined for 34 points. Edwards was especially effective as she needed just 16 minutes to rack up 15 points, while Lannon's 19 points marked a team high.

Sophomore Ashley Tutzauer rounded out the Cavs in double figures thanks to a 14 point effort, while freshman Abi Fricke recorded a season high eight points after finishing a perfect 3-3 from the field.

The Blue and White trailed for just 31 seconds as the Pacers opened up the scoring with three quick points. The Cavs quickly rounded into shape, however as they reeled off a 18-to-1 run to take a commanding 18-4 lead with 2:31 to go in the first. A triple from Lannon to give the Cavs a 6-4 lead highlighted the run and swung momentum for the Blue and White as they led 21-9 after one.

Cabrini kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter as they outscored the Pacers by an 18-5 margin to balloon the lead to 39-14 at the intermission.

Thanks to an aggressive Cavalier defense, the Pacers couldn't string enough baskets together in the second half to mount a comeback as the Blue and White were able to coast to a comfortable 30 point victory.

The Cabrini offense committed their fewest turnovers of any game this season as they gave the ball away just nine times, compared to the Pacers 17 turnovers. The Cavs also received a significant boost from their bench as they outscored the Pacers' bench 36-11.

Marywood's Natasha Hessling paced the offense as she tallied eight points and a game high 13 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass.

Following tonight's action, the Cavs improve to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in Atlantic East play. They will look to stay perfect in conference on Saturday, January 12th when they welcome Wesley College to Nerney Field House for a 1pm tip.
