ARLINGTON, VA - The Cabrini women's soccer team closed their regular season schedule this evening following a 3-0 victory over the Marymount University Saints.
A trio of first half goals paved the way for the Cavaliers as senior
Maddy Wojton combined with juniors
Maria Hagan and Alex Garces for the early lead.
In total, the Blue and White tallied a 12-7 advantage in shots, including a 9-6 advantage in shots on goals, while also holding a 9-1 edge in corner kicks. Hagan, Garces and junior
Brittany Purdy each finished tied for a team high two shots each.
Cabrini wasted little time grabbing the lead as Wojton used a well placed pass from Hagan to open the scoring in the 3rd minute of play.
Hagan quickly doubled the lead with an unassisted strike in the 16th minute for the 2-0 advantage.
The offense stayed hot as the Blue and White struck for their third goal in the opening 21 minutes of play following a penalty kick from Garces.
The early lead would prove more than enough for the Cavaliers as their defense allowed just five shots in the remaining 69 minutes, highlighted by a pair of saves from junior netminder
Ashley Tutzauer. Tutzauer would go on to finish with six saves en route to the Cavs ninth shutout of the season.
Following today's match, the Cavaliers improve to 12-3-2 overall and 4-1-1 in Atlantic East Conference play. They also secure the No. 3 seed in the upcoming conference tournament where they'll again face Marymount in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, November 2nd. A game time has yet to be announced.
