RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini volleyball team opened Atlantic East Conference play with a convincing 3-0 victory over the Immacuala Mighty Macs tonight at Nerney Field House.
The 25-12, 25-13, 25-12 win extended the Blue and White's conference win streak to 66 matches and improved the club to 9-8 overall.
The Cavaliers got significant contributions up and down the line-up tonight, as 13 players saw action.
Junior
Steph Judkins led the way with 11 kills, eight digs and three service aces, while senior
Katrina Shelly added nine kills, six digs and four aces.
Freshman
Melanie Cotes-Rivera fell just shy of a double-double with 10 assists and nine digs.
Sophomore
Amelia Ballard added nine dimes and a career best five aces.
Classmate
Hannah Dalton added six digs, and joined Cotes-Rivera and sophomores
Marie Hamilton and
Jordan Shemonski added three kills each.
Sophomore
Lexi Conte chipped in with three aces.
Senior Natalie Dependahl led the Mighty Macs (4-11, 0-2 Atlantic East) with eight of the team's 12 kills, while freshman Megan Daugherty paired eight assists and nine digs. Freshman Mckenna Ryan earned match-high honors with 12 digs.
Prior to tonight's first serve, the Cavaliers honored Judkins, who broke the program's kills record earlier this season. With her 19th kills in a 3-2 win over SUNY New Paltz, the junior broke
Danielle Carrozza's mark of 1,143 kills, set in 2013.
The Cavaliers will put their five match win streak on the line this weekend, as they head to Center Valley, PA for the DeSales Tournament. Cabrini will face No. 14 Juniata (10-5) on Friday before meeting SUNY Canton (3-15) and the host Bulldogs (8-13) on Saturday.
