RADNOR, PA - The Cavaliers opened their home slate in impressive fashion today, topping Eastern University 10-2 and 8-0 in the annual Battle for Eagle Road.
Cabrini tallied a combined 24 hits in the victories, as it improved to 6-5 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 3-7.
Game 1
The Cavaliers built an early lead, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Sophomore
Olivia Young opened the frame wth a walk and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Classmate
Amber Seamen's sacrifice fly scored fellow sophomore
Aysiah Cintron.Â
Eastern looked to get the runs back in the second, but freshman hurler
Grace Stairiker stranded the bases loaded.Â
Cabrini extended its lead in the fourth with three runs. Seamen's RBI double plated Cintron, before junior
Alexandra Schell and Stairiker drove in Seamen and freshman
Kaitlyn Martin.
The Eagles responded with an unearned run in the fourth, but the Blue and White took advantage of a pair of Eastern errors in the bottom of the fourth, pushing its lead to 7-2.
Cabrini put the game away in the bottom of the sixth with three runs. Seamen's RBI foul out scored Cintron before Stairiker's two RBI double plated Martin and fellow freshman
Faith Pitsikoulis.
Cintron finished the opener 4-4 with four runs scored, while Seamen and Stairiker drove in three runs each. Stairiker also collected the pitching victory, allowing just one earned run over six innings.Â
Game 2
Cabrini built an early lead in the nightcap, as well. A Pitsikoulis sacrifice fly drove in Cintron, who walked, advanced on a wild pitch and stole third.
That proved to be all that sophomore
Casey Scheuren needed in the pitcher's circle, as the sophomore pitcher scattered five hits with three strikeouts in the complete game victory.
The Blue and White rode its slim lead until the fourth inning, when the Cavaliers added five runs before recording an out.
Seamen and freshman
Emily Wargo drove in runs with RBI singles, but the big blast came off the Schell's bat, as teh junior plated Seamen and Wargo with a three run homer over the left field fence.
Cabrini put the game on ice in the bottom of the sixth, as Cintron and Wargo notched bases loaded RBI singles.Â
Seamen went 3-4 in the win, while Cintron, Wargo and Schell collected two hits each and combined for six RBI.
The Cavaliers will hit the road on Sunday, as they travel south to Washington, DC, where they will face Catholic University (4-6). First pitch of the nonconference double-header is slated for 1pm.
