RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini baseball team powered past the visiting Ramapo College Roadrunners this afternoon by way of an 8-4 final for their seventh consecutive victory.
Freshman
Brandon Loner delivered the big blow as the lefty crushed a fastball over the right field wall for a third inning grand slam. Loner finished the day 1-4 with one run and a season high five RBI's.
Sophomore
Mack McKisson tallied a game high four hits and four runs scored, while also stealing two bases to bring his season total to seven. Freshman
Joey Moyer marked the hit column twice, while also scoring a run. Junior's
Henry Peguero and
Joe Aurite rounded out the Cavaliers with hits.
Junior
Kyran Weemaels toed the rubber for the Cavs and turned in three innings of two run ball. Sophomore
Ray Lutick collected the victory, his second of the season, after relieving Weemaels in the fourth. Lutick tossed two innings and allowed three hits and one earned, while striking out four.
Lutick, as well as junior
Ivan Varela, sophomore
Drew Swire and senior
Tyler Ronayne combined for six innings of relief and allowed just two runs.
The Cavs pushed across the game's first run in the bottom of the first after Ramapo shortstop Kyle Lisa muffed grounder off the bat of Loner, allowing McKisson to score from third.
The Roadrunners would post a pair of runs in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead. A failed pickoff attempt from Weemaels allowed Ramapo their first run, while the Roadrunners used a single through the left side to plate their second of the inning.
As mentioned, the Cavs would respond in a big way thanks to Loner's third inning grand slam to put the Blue and White up 5-2.
The Roadrunners continued to chip away in the fifth and sixth, however, as they pushed across a run in each to trim the Cavalier lead to 5-4. A seventh inning single off the bat of Peguero would get a run back for Cabrini as McKisson would come around to score.
The Diamond Cavs took advantage of another Ramapo error in the eight to pick up an insurance run and take a comfortable 8-4 lead. Ronayne would enter in the ninth to shut the door and secure the Cavaliers' seventh win in a row.
Ramapo starter Danny Russo was saddled with the loss after allowing five runs, four earned, in three innings of work.
Following today's action, the Cavs improve to 15-4 overall. They will look to stay hot this Saturday, March 30th when they host conference opponent Immaculata University for a double header beginning at noon.
