RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team was outscored 8-2 over the final 26:25, before suffering an 18-11 loss to Muhlenberg College today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The nonconference defeat dropped the Cavaliers to 5-5 on the season.
Senior
Avery Murphy paced the Blue and White with four goals, seven draw controls, five caused turnovers and four ground balls. Sophomore
Ashley Tutzauer added three goals, two helpers, three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls.
Freshman
Shea Neary tallied eight ground balls, six caused turnovers and four caused turnovers, while senior
Katie Kucia chipped in with three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Freshman goaltender
Sam Hamalak notched eight saves and four ground balls in the loss.
The Blue and White fell behind early, as Muhlenberg scored the game's first three goals. The Cavaliers responded with four goals of its own over a four minute span to take its first lead of the day. Tutzauer's second goal of the run game Cabrini its first lead of the day at the 19:17 mark.
It would be Cabrini's final lead, as the Mules tallied the next two goals. Carlson pulled the Cavaliers even with a free position shot midway through the stanza, but again Muhlenberg recorded back to back tallies.
Muhlenberg pushed its lead to 10-7 late in the first half, but Murphy's free position goal pulled the Cavaliers to within 10-8 at the half.
The senior also opened the second half with a goal, slicing Cabrini's deficit to 10-9 at the 27:06 mark, but three unanswered Muhlenberg goals extended the visitor's cushion to 13-9.
The Cavaliers pulled to within three goals twice in the second half, with the latest coming on Kucia's goal at the 15:14 mark. The Blue and White would get no closer, as the Mules extended their lead with the game's final four goals.
Senior Emma Carmody led the Mules (6-3) with three goals and two assists, while juniors Victoria Freidel and Gabriella Crivelli added three goals each. Junior goaltender Jordan Segrave added 15 saves in the victory.
The Cavaliers will hit the road on Saturday, as they visit Rowan University (4-3). Game time is set for 1pm in Glassboro, NJ.
