CLERMONT, FL – The Cabrini softball team closed its Florida trip with a 4-5 record after Saturday's 5-0 loss to Wartburg College.
The Knights plated a single run in the first and three in the second before scoring a solo run in the fourth.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers struggled to find their offense, notching only four singles on the day.
Despite its lack of base hits, the Blue and White offense threatened to score several times, stranding nine runners on the base paths. Cavaliers were left on base in each of the seven frames, including two in both the first and third innings.
Sophomores
Aysiah Cintron and
Casey Scheuren joined freshmen
Allison Martin and
Kaitlyn Martin with base hits, while Scheuren suffered the loss in the pitcher's circle. The sophomore hurler surrendered four earned runs on eight hits in four innings.
Earlier in the day, the Cavaliers held an exhibition game against the Czech National Team, falling 6-1.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, as they travel to Owings Mills, MD to face Stevenson University (0-2). First pitch of the nonconference doubleheaders is scheduled for 1pm.
