RADNOR, PA – The Cavaliers split a pair of games against Marywood University today, as the Cabrini softball team celebrated Senior Day.
The Blue and White could not overcome a powerful Pacers attack in a 9-6 loss in the opener, but rode a dominant pitching performance to a 6-0 victory in the night cap.
With today's results, Cabrini improved to 17-13 overall and 3-3 in Atlantic East Conference play with four games left on the league schedule.
Between games of the doubleheader, the Cavaliers took a few minutes to honor its lone senior
Darian Caputo. A .327 career hitter with 96 career base knocks, Caputo has helped the Blue and White claim 81 victories, including a 55-17 mark In conference action and three postseason trips.
Game 1
The Pacers (14-16, 2-4 Atlantic East) built an early 3-0 lead, as senior Kirstie Alvarez blasted a two-run home. Cabrini got one of the runs back in the bottom of the frame, as sophomore

Marywood put up another three spot in the second, as Alvarez connected for a three run homer, her second in as many innings. Again, the Cavaliers responded with a run in the bottom, as junior
Alexandra Schell hit her team-leading fifth home run of the season.
The Pacers pushed their lead to 8-2 in the sixth, when the Blue and White mounted a comeback.

Allison Martin. Caputo then stepped to the plate and delivered and RBI single, plating Redding.
Cabrini looked to hold Marywood scoreless in the top of the seventh, but a two out RBI single provided an insurance run for the Pacers.
Seamen and Scheuren collected two hits each, while Redding drove in three runs. Freshman
Grace Stairiker suffered the loss, surrendering five earned runs in 3.2 innings of work.
Game 2
After two scoreless innings, the Cavaliers grabbed the lead in the third, as Seamen's double plated classmate
Olivia Young. The Blue and White then took advantage of a Marywood miscue, as
Allison Martin reached on a throwing error, allowing Seamen to score.
The Cavaliers added to their lead in the fourth. Redding stole home on a perfectly executed double steal, then Schell delivered another home run, her fourth home run in the last five games. The two-run shot put the Blue and White ahead 6-0.
That was more than enough offense for Scheuren, who dominated the pitching circle. The sophomore kept the Pacers off balanced, allowing just five base hits with three strike outs to earn the complete game shutout.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, as they welcome Gwynedd Mercy University to Cabrini Field. First pitch of the Atlantic East Conference doubleheader is scheduled for 3pm.
