ARLINGTON, VA – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team dominated the opening 30 minutes of action and cruised to an important road victory today, as the Cavaliers topped Marymount University 20-8 in Arlington, VA.
With the win, the Blue and White improved to 4-1 in the Atlantic East Conference and 8-7 overall. With one game remaining on the conference slate, Cabrini is in position to earn a top two seed and a first round bye in the upcoming Atlantic East Tournament.
Sophomore
Ashley Tutzauer led the Cavaliers, matching a career best withh eight points on six goals and two assists. Senior
Avery Murphy added five points, including four goals, seven draw controls, five caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Freshman
Dana Carlson marked the scoring column four times, while sophomore
Taylor Dimmerling and freshman
Shea Neary added two goals and an assist each. Neary added five draw controls, five caused turnovers and five ground balls to her stat line.

Sam Hamalak earned the victory with seven saves.
Murphy put the Cavaliers ahead just 12 seconds after the opening whistle, but the Saints evened the score with a woman-up goal just three minutes later. The goal marked the final time the game was tied.
Tutzauer's first goal came at the 25:11 mark and sparked Cabrini to a 6-0 run, including three goals in a 53 second span. Murphy's third goal put the Blue and White ahead 7-1 with 16:21 left in the first half.
Marymount responded with back to back goals and, after Tutzauer's fourth goal, pulled within 8-4 with 12 minutes left in the period.
The Cavaliers closed the stanza with another six consecutive goals, as Neary's second maker gave Cabrini a 14-4 lead at the half.
In the opening 30 minutes, the Cavaliers outshot the Saints 31-12, including 25 shots on goal, and committed just four turnovers. Cabrini's defensive effort held Marymount to just 7-14 in first half clear attempts and pressured the home team into 16 first half miscues.
Cabrini finished the day with just nine turnovers, the team's fewest since Feb. 28, 2017 when it committed nine in a 12-11 win over Capital, a string of 53 games.
Jessica Crew led the Saints (11-6, 4-2 Atlantic East) with three goals, one more than Bridgette Stacom, as the dup combined for seven of the team's 13 draw controls. Goaltender Holly Reik posted 16 saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers will step out of conference play on Tuesday, as they welcome No. 20 University of Scranton to Edith Robb Dixon Field. Game time is set for 7pm.
