RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini women's tennis team narrowly missed their first victory of the season this afternoon after the visiting Neumann University Knights escaped with a 5-4 victory.
The Blue and White had a strong showing in doubles play as junior
Sydney Lynch and freshman
Raechel Aviles collected an 8-4 victory in the No. 1 flight, while junior
Lattana Sithara and freshman
Alyssa Madden earned an 8-0 decision in the No. 2 slot.
Sophomore
Miranda Smith and rookie
Zanaia Brown battled, but ultimately fell by an 8-4 final in No. 3 doubles.
The Knights swung the momentum in their favor in singles play as they took flights No. 1, 3, 4, and 6 to earn the aforementioned team victory.
Aviles and Madden highlighted singles play as each tallied match victories in the No. 2 and No. 5 slot, respectively. Aviles took a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Neumann's Maddy Varney, while Madden collected a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 final over Ashley Francis.
Following today's match, the Cavaliers move to 0-14 overall and 0-3 in Atlantic East Conference play. They will close their regular season on Tuesday, April 23rd when they host Gwynedd Mercy University at the Dixon Tennis Courts beginning at 3:30pm.
