Softball Closes Regular Season with Split vs. Lebanon Valley

RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini softball team closed its regular season today at Cabrini field splitting a pair of games against Lebanon Valley College.

Sophomore Amber Seamen drove in nine runs in leading the Cavaliers to a 13-5 victory in the opener, while the Dutchmen rallied late in the nightcap to score a 9-5 win.

Today's results improved the Blue and White to 20-16 over the season, marking the 14th time that Cabrini has reached the 20 victory plateau.

Game 1: Cabrini 13, Lebanon Valley 5
The Blue and White jumped out to an early lead on Seamen's two run blast over the centerfield wall in the first inning. The Cavaliers added to their lead in the third, as a single by sophomore Aysiah Cintron plated classmate Jess Redding. Cintron crossed the plate on a Seamen double before freshman Allison Martin punctuated the frame with her second home run of the season, a two-run blast.

The Dutchmen found their collective power stroke in the fourth inning, as senior Lexi Windsor's two-run homer capped a three run frame, cutting Cabrini's lead to 6-3.

Cabrini mounted a rally in the bottom of the fourth, filling the bags with one out before a Cintron single scored sophomore Casey Scheuren. Two batters later, Seamen continued her career day, clearing the bases with a grand slam, her fifth home run of the campaign.

The Cavaliers looked to end the game in the fifth, but Lebanon Valley had other ideas, scoring two outs to continue the game.

Again, Cabrini loaded the bases and with two out, Seamen put another mark on the game, singling down the left field line to score Cintron and Redding to end the game.

Seamen went a perfect 4-4 with two home runs, nine RBI and three runs scored. Cintron added three base knocks, one more than Martin and senior Darian Caputo. Freshman Grace Stairiker collected the victory after allowing five earned runs on 11 hits.

Game 2: Lebanon Valley 9, Cabrini 5
The Cavaliers jumped to a 2-0 lead, as freshman Emily Wargo's single up the middle to score Cintron and Caputo. Lebanon Valley took advantage of a Blue and White error in the fourth to get on the board. The Dutchmen continued their comeback in the fifth, scoring three runs, including a two-run homer by junior Kate Whelski.

Cabrini battled back in the bottom of the frame, on the strength of its power hitting. Cintron recorded her third home run of  the season , a solo shot, before Seamen's two run home run put the Cavaliers ahead 5-4.

The Blue and White could not carry its momentum beyond the fifth, as Lebanon Valley regained the lead with three runs in the sixth and added two in the seventh.

Schell went 3-4 in the nightcap, while Seamen and Wargo drove in two runs each. Scheuren suffered the loss, allowing eight earned runs on 11 hits in 6.1 innings of work.

The Cavaliers will open the Atlantic East Conference Tournament on Friday, when they face number five seed Wesley College (16-20, 3-7 Atlantic East) at 2pm at Immaculata University. The Blue and White will then face pod host and number two seed Immaculata (25-9-2, 7-3 Atlantic East) at 4pm.
