Women's Lacrosse Rebounds with 22-9 Win at Neumann

ASTON, PA – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team rallied from Wednesday's first Atlantic East defeat to score a convincing 22-9 win at Neumann University.

Nine Cavaliers (6-7, 2-1 Atlantic East) recorded at least one goal in the win, as the team attempted 40 shots and won 23 of the game's 33 draw controls.

Sophomore Taylor Dimmerling scored a career best five goals, while senior Avery Murphy paired four goals and two assists with a career high 17 draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Junior Lauren Hughes paired two goals and two helpers, while sophomore Ashley Tutzauer stuffed the stat sheet with two goals, an assist, five caused turnovers and eight ground balls.

Freshman Shea Neary, one of six Cavaliers to score two goals in the win, added three caused turnovers, four draw controls and six ground balls.

Freshman goaltender Sam Hamalak anchored the defensive effort with nine saves, as the Blue and White forced 15 Neumann turnovers and pressured the Knights into 14-24 clear attempts.

The Knights jumped ahead early with a free position goal just 64 seconds into the game, but Cabrini answered in a big way. Murphy put the Blue and White on the board 14 seconds later and sparked a run of six consecutive goals.

Neumann briefly interupted the Cabrini scoring run at the 13:52 mark, but again the Cavaliers had an answer. Cabrini posted a 5-0 spurt, including goals by Hughes, Murphy and Dimmerling in a 59 second span.

The Knights found some rhythm in the final minutes of the first half, scoring four goals, but late markers by Dimmerling and Neary pushed Cabrini's lead to 14-6 at the half.

The Blue and White showed no let-up in the second half, scoring the first four goals of the period.

Senior Emma Rodner-Tims was among the Cavaliers to score two goals, while sophomore Kathleen Emche and Shannon Agnew scored their first goals of the season.

Kaitlyn Conrad led the Knights (8-5, 1-1 Atlantic East) with five goals, four draw controls, while Catriona Corrigan notched seven saves.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, as they make the trip south to Wesley College (5-5, 0-2 Atlantic East). Game time is set for 5:30pm in Dover, DE.
