PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Cabrini men's tennis team will play in their third consecutive conference championship match following this morning's 5-0 victory over the No. 4 seeded Immaculata University Mighty Macs.
The top seeded Cavaliers began the match with a 2-0 advantage after the Macs were forced to forfeit No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles due to only fielding five players.
Sophomore's
Ben Mead and
Nick Falcone took No. 1 doubles following an 8-2 decision, while junior
CJ LaMantia and sophomore
Vince Paetow capped the doubles sweep with a comfortable 8-0 decision in the No. 2 slot.
With a 4-0 advantage heading into singles play, the Blue and White needed just one more match win in the best of five format to secure their ticket to the championship. Mead was the first to finish for the Cavs as he took a 6-0, 6-0 final in No. 5 singles to cap the day's play.
As mentioned, Cabrini will now advance to tomorrow's Atlantic East Conference Championship after today's contest. The Cavs will face the No. 2 seeded Neumann University Knights following their 5-0 victory over No. 3 seeded Gwynedd Mercy University in today's semifinal. Tomorrow's match time is slated for 9am.
