GLENSIDE, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer team were topped by hosting Arcadia University this evening after the Knights used four second half goals to collect the 5-1 final.
The Cavs attack was held in check as the Knights limited the offense to just four shots and one shot on goal. Junior Alex Garces tallied the Cavs' lone shot on frame, but made it count as connected for her third goal of the year in the 10th minute to open the scoring.
Seniors
Maddy Wojton and
Marissa Portelli, along with junior
Maria Hagan, rounded out the Cavs to mark the shot column with one each. Netminder
Ashley Tutzauer collected five saves as she faced a total of 19 shots from an aggressive Arcadia attack.
As mentioned, Garces opened the scoring for both teams with a strike in the 10th minute to hand the Cavs the early lead. Arcadia responded with the equalizer in the 30th minute, however, to even things at one apiece. The 1-1 tie would hold through halftime until the Knights took the lead in the 49th minute.
Arcadia would go on to add three more goals in just over 11 minutes, capped by Karlie Flowers' first tally of the season. Arcadia was led offensively by Megan Mannato's three goals, while Flowers and Taylor Gubler rounded out the scorers for the Knights.
Following today's match, the Cavs move to 3-1 on the young season and will look to get back on track when they host Washington College (MD) on Saturday, September 14th. Game time is slated for 3pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
