RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer team was narrowly edged 1-0 by the visiting Widener University Pride this afternoon.
The Cavalier offense generated plenty of opportunities as they accounted for 21 shots, including five shots on frame, while also holding a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior Alex Garces paced the Cavalier offense with four shots, while classmate
Maria Hagan, senior
Diana VanSickle and sophomore
Brittany Purdy tallied three shots each.
The Blue and White back line did well to limit the Pride offensively as they held the visitors to just seven shots, including three shots on goal, and just one corner. Despite the defense's strong play, Widener's Emily Schall managed to sneak a shot past senior
Ashley Tutzauer immediately following the start of the second half. Tutzauer would finish her day with a pair of saves.
The 1-0 score managed to stand for the remainder of the second stanza despite the Cavaliers tallying 10 shots in the final 44 minutes.
Widener netminder Ashton Houbary recorded five saves in the win.
Following today's match, the Blue and White move to 5-2-1 on the season. They will look to rebound on Saturday, September 28h when they travel to Reading, PA to face Alvernia University. Game time is slated for 5pm.
